If you are looking for a Bavarian paradise
Look no further than Rothenburg ob der Tauber
This is the place of childhood dreams. Although in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the Potts children would not have thought so. The ‘Child-Catcher’ captured them here. It would be fair to say the town looks better today than in 1968. (Some scenes were filmed in the town).
Rothenburg ob der Tauber is on the Romantic Road
So if you are venturing on a road trip like us and you are looking for a bit of magic this is certainly worth a visit.
Street after cobblestoned street the architecture is stunning as it really is like stepping back in time. As a result, Rothenburg ob der Tauber is renowned for its medieval centre encircled by 1.5 miles of undamaged 14th century galleried town wall, with its 42 gates and towers.
The Rathaus (town hall) and market square are surrounded by wonderful specimens of half-timbered buildings. The Käthe Wohlfahrt store is definitely worth a visit and will transport you to Christmas whatever time of year it is.
Also keep an eye out for the Rothenburger Schneeballen (snowball cake). A word of warning though because it will be messy.

The technical bits
Shot on a Canon EOS 1Ds-MkIII, with the 24-70mm f/2.8L lens attached.
As always images are catalogued in Adobe Lightroom, before being processed in Adobe Photoshop to correct the Raw images. The images we processed in Photomatix by HRDSoft. As always I aim to create an image that reflects the feel of the scene. In this case it's very much a chocolate box feel - too much?
As always, any questions about individual images, techniques or even Rothenburg ob der Tauber itself, just ask - here to help.
