Our Gift Ideas for the Traveller

In Life, Our Reviews, Our Tips, Technology, Try-this by JanisLeave a Comment

Are you wrapped and ready or a last-minute shopper?

Gary and I gathered together a few of our favourite travel gift and gadget ideas. Some are a little quirky, and some are a bit of a luxury. However, if it eases your decision making in buying that ideal gift, then there’s nothing wrong with a little extravagance.

So many of these items have made our travelling much more relaxed and organised experience.

Janis and the big atlas

With my big atlas - Where next?

I couldn’t help myself, I had to include a globe related gift as well, it would be wrong not to.

So You Know

If you do purchase a product from any of the links on this page, we’ll earn a little commission, at no extra cost to you.

Portable Battery USB Charger

This little gadget is never too far from us.

You know yourself at times how quickly your mobile just seems to have sapped all its energy.

This compact charger easily fits into a small handbag, and I think it’s quite stylish too.

Collapsible Water bottle

This collapsible water bottle is not only going to save you space in your packing, but, it’s a great way to save money and recycling.

It’s also not just limited to your travels, you can use this down the gym or if you’re just going out for a stroll.

Globe Jigsaw Puzzle

Yes, here it is, the globe jigsaw puzzle, what better way to while away those winter evenings than a jigsaw puzzle.

Ohh, but, it’s not just any old flat jigsaw, this is actually spherical. It makes it trickier to complete, although, surely that’s the fun of it.

I’ve still not quite finished mine.

USB In-Car Charger

Do you need to charge a lot of USB devices on the go? Why not look at getting a multi-socket USB cigarette lighter charger.

If like us you love your road trips, this is ideal, no worrying that after a long day in the saddle your phone is running on empty – job done.

B&O noise cancelling headphones

Now, I did say there were a few luxury gifts, this is the first. There’s nothing better than sitting in an airport lounge in your own little music bubble.

Drowning out the background hustle and bustle, or in Gary’s case choosing to ignore me asking silly questions.

 These are a treat.

USB Charging Hub

So, we have no more arguments over who’s plugging their gadget in first. Particularly if the power points wherever you are, are limited.

With this multi USB charger hub we can plug everything in, and we’re both happy.

Bellroy Classic Pouch

Now, I must admit I don’t own ones of these Bellroy Classic Pouches, but I want one.

It’s ideal to stick in your hand luggage or in an overnight bag and have all your essentials close to hand.

Personally, I think it’s perfect if you have a MacBook, you store your mouse, power lead, cables and any chargers you may have.

English Heritage subscription

The gift that keeps on giving.

No it’s not an annual subscription for the Jell-O Club (fans of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, may remember that one).

It’s a yearly membership to visit some of England’s most incredible landmarks.

We’ve visited a few castles this year, and it’s already paid for itself.

Travel Laundry bag

You wouldn’t think someone could be so excited about a laundry bag, but, I love it.

You know me, anything with a map on it and I’m sold. It is actually pretty handy as well, as it folds up into its own little pouch.

BUBM cable & gadget pouch

We have found while travelling, that these pouches come in so handy.

Not just because of how organised you feel by using them, but, also their shape enables packing them in your luggage easy.

Lifeventure Soft Fibre towel

We have a couple of these travel towels and are so handy.

When tucked in its little pouch it is really compact, so you can easily pop it into a camera bag or pocket.

They dry very quickly and are also available in various sizes.

DJI Mavic 2 Pro Drone

Yep, another high-end gadget, although, if you are going to splash out on a drone, then this is the one to get.  We love the DJI Mavic 2 Pro.

Mavic 2 Pro - an idea gift

Our DJI Mavic 2 Pro - the perfect travellers companion

It’s more of “Gadget Gary’s” toy than mine, but, the imagery it produces is incredible. Also, I cannot believe how small the whole thing is when packed away, it’s amazing.

This is the shoulder bag, with the Mavic 2 Drone, 2 spare batteries and it comes with other goodies as part of the DJI Mavic 2 Fly More Kit - a must purchase with the drone.

As I say it is a bit of an extravagant gift, but I won’t tell anyone you bought it.

Lonely Planet Books

If you’re anything like me, I just love a travel book, and Lonely Planet has some fantastic ones.

It doesn’t just have to be based in a city or country.

I love their books with collections of destinations, that give you ideas of where to go in the world and when.
